A view of my fishes before my tank was hit by velvet disease.
The fish community was wiped out within a week and now
trying to refrain from introducing new fishes til April to
break the cycle of the disease....

more updates;

My amateur DIY-ed canopy.  Mounted are  2 x lumenarcs
with 400w 20,000k radiums.
Picture taken early January; as you can notice my
recirculating pump is not yet installed. I did some re-piping
on my returns before I installed the iwaki md70 fearing
that the pump is too strong and might cause an overflow
in the main tank.

it has been a while since I last posted.  I have been travelling due to work and had little time to update this left alone take pictures of the progress.

I as of date, tank is running well although it has been hit by velvet disease.  Sad to say it wiped out my whole fish community.  Nonetheless, my sps are all doing great.

A summary of events that transpired during my silence;

I tried my best to hide all untidy cabling by using cable trays.
Pardon the blur picture, showing my cabling management.
Installed eductors for return and recirculating pumps.
Purchase timber and DIY-ed my canopy frame.

Cycling -- Week 2

It was just nice that before Christmas and flying off, I was able to kick start the cycling process.  It's week 2 now of cycling and as I will be flying again, in no time the tank should be ready for its first inhabitats.

Just a few updates;

After a few days of running, the filter sock muddy and the skimmer working  great.

A couple of Vortech MP40 and a Tunze 6100 creating sandstorm yet the turbulence
is not enough -- will be adding a Tunze 6060.  Adding a couple of bags of sand as well
and live rocks aside from migrating the live rocks from my existing tank.

Trying to keep everything neat -- using a cable tray to hide all the unsightly
"noodles"

 As of now I am not closing this as I need to fit in a few more cables from
the chiller, second return pump, wavemaker, metal halides, as well as calcium reactor.

Awaiting for second return pump.  Actually I have a new Iwaki MD70
but quite hesitant as it might be too powerful for my set up.

Added a bio pellet reactor -- being redundant just to make sure nutrients
are low for SPS.  Notice that I use Iwakis - reliable magnetic pumps
that works well for more than a decade of my reefing hobby.

Initial start-up

I was too excited with the build up that I have totally forgotten keeping visual records of the piping process, can't be bothered as I was too engrossed!

So the initial set up is done; not wasting any time and started filling up the tank of water.  Although I got another return pump to attach, chiller and calcium reactor to connect and lights & canopy to rig up, I initialize the cycling process.

Adding water through the filter sock.

Half way there... it took about an hour to fill the tank up.  So far so good,
no leakages.

Up and running....

The set up begins...

Even though how many times I have decided on how my set up will be, I always have last minute changes to make things less complicated.  I was, at first, thinking of connecting to acrylic sump tanks (my DIY projects) which I ditched -- my main concern is the more compartments I put, the more chances of leakages.

As excited as a boy during the Christmas season, tried to configure everything before the piping started.

ATB skimmer courtesy of my good friend from Manila, a couple of
fluidized reactors at hand at the moment.

the new build part 2

The "fish room" is completed, just a few things I had to adjust before I start the set up.... bought the styrofoam board for the stand, took off the carpet installed right under tank stand.... at this point I am really getting excited and eager to start the set up...

Electrical points neatly installed.

Waiting for the tank to be delivered.

The tank finally arrived.  Took four guys to carry this and apparently,
it is not a crystal glass they made this with as per my request.  Well
I can't complain and would rather be thankful for this is free.

Sits nicely in the center of our office, dividing the meeting area
and the main office.
